Write for us
Rural Civic Journal welcomes considered proposals that help readers understand rural places and civic life. We are interested in clear explanations, useful comparisons and thoughtful accounts of how local processes work.
What we welcome
Pitch an idea about rural places, public services, local institutions, participation or change. A strong proposal has a distinct question, a clear reader in mind and a manageable scope. Explain why the subject matters and what a reader should understand by the end.
A useful pitch
Send a short summary, a working title, the proposed approach and a brief note about the material you would use. Flag uncertainty, location-specific details or claims that would need further verification. Do not send confidential information or present personal opinion as established fact.
How to propose it
Send proposals through the Contact page and select the editorial question option. A proposal is not a promise of publication; we may ask for clarification or suggest a different focus. Please wait for a response before sending a full draft.
Rural life deserves a close reading
Distance, place and public choices affect one another. Understanding those connections makes rural civic life easier to discuss.
